Who is this Service for?

We cater to individuals of all ages and needs, to assist you to either reduce pain, prevent deformity or provide support with a full range of customised or modular products as well as stock products from a range of partners. We are here to answer any questions about the process and provide peace of mind.

Types of Orthotics

  • Insoles

    Insoles are worn against your feet and are designed to address a wide range of problems that can occur in your feet, ankles or even your knees. Solutions are based on biomechanical principles and there is range of cost effect solutions from stock to custom devices that can fit discreetly inside your choice of footwear.


    We still use traditional approaches to manufacture our custom insoles but most are now 3D printed to achieve different objectives. The 3D printed approach is more environmentally friendly due to reduced waste too.

  • Footwear

    Blatchford Clinic offers a variety of custom or modular footwear options to accommodate any foot deformity, providing both support and correction to improve comfort and gait. Our footwear can be paired with other devices to maximise  control and support.

     

    Our custom range are hand crafted and use a wide range of materials to suit your clinical or religious needs.

  • AFO (Ankle-Foot-Orthosis)

    An AFO (Ankle-Foot-Orthosis) is a device that helps if you are experiencing a problem with your ankle and foot. It will maintain the correct position when standing and promote the correct movement when walking. Common reasons for a AFO are due to deformities, muscle spasticity or weakness. . The choice of AFO, including its type and material, will depend on your specific needs and mobility requirements.

     

    To ensure optimal results, it is best to consult with a Blatchford Clinic orthotist who will assess your condition and recommend the most appropriate AFO design and material. Blatchford Clinic offers high-quality devices made from traditional plastic to advance biocompatible materials and also high tech composite carbon fibre , demonstrating the latest orthotic technology and traditional materials advancements.

  • KAFO (Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis)

    A KAFO (Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis) is a device that extends further up the leg to also address any problem affecting the knee joint . It is commonly prescribed when the lower limb does not function well enough to stand or walk safely. The type and material of KAFO used depend on individual needs, conditions, and mobility requirements, but the key decision is the type of knee joint to be used.

  • Spinal Brace

    A spinal brace is similar to the devices mentioned above that will help and support your spine. There are a range of different approaches for depending on your need.


    A common requirement is to treat scoliosis and our clinical team are trained to provide traditional corrective braces, or the new approach from SpineCor with their CMP brace.

  • Gait Analysis

    To improve your mobility and function your device may need to be fine-tuned. Clinician's experience can achieve much of this but there are times when the clinician needs the help of technology such as cameras and a special plate set into the floor.

    Gait analysis is available to help fine-tune the device you wear and is an excellent tool for the clinician to use to find the optimum position to improve function.

    Our purpose built gait lab is research quality space with 8 Vicon motion capture infra-red cameras and a Kistler force plate that combine to capture and comprehensively analyse the way you move.
