Calderdale & Kirklees Wheelchair service is part of Blatchford Wheelchair Services which is made up of 6 individual wheelchair services, Tameside, Oldham, Dudley, Calderdale & Kirklees, Mansfield and Rotherham. Providing Wheelchair Assessment, Service and Repair for Calderdale, North Kirklees and Greater Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning areas. This includes Huddersfield, Halifax, Batley, Dewsbury, Brighouse, Elland, Holmfirth and Todmorden. 

We aim to provide a comprehensive service for people with long-term mobility problems and associated postural and pressure needs which include manual and powered wheelchairs, specialist buggy’s, special seating and pressure relief cushions.  We currently support around 10,000 wheelchair users.     

We have a team of specialist clinicians including Occupational Therapists, Senior Rehabilitation Engineer and Technical instructor along with a team of administrators who are dedicated and committed to delivering a high quality and efficient service.  Clinical governance is an integral part of our care and includes on-going service review, improvements coupled with audit research and training. 

Ross Care run the Wheelchair Services and are responsible for the delivery, collection, maintenance and repair of all wheelchair equipment in the community.  

The clinical assessments and handovers for wheelchairs and special seating are provided by Blatchford who have extensive knowledge providing clinical services across the UK and special seating clinics in over 30 wheelchair services. 

As an established Approved Repairer, Ross Care provide a full & comprehensive free repair service, should your NHS wheelchair develop a fault. They have an extensive network of service centres across England. This enables excellent local coverage and response times for our NHS wheelchair users and have over 70 skilled Field Service Engineers out on the roads each day each who each carry large stocks of wheelchair parts and spares to achieve a very high percentage of first-visit-fixes.
