Blatchford is a world leading rehabilitation provider with clinical expertise in prosthetics, orthotics, special seating and wheelchairs. We design and manufacture the multi award-winning Endolite range of lower limb prostheses and provide clinical services to the NHS, military and patients internationally. With 128 years of innovation and expertise behind us, we produce the world’s most advanced microprocessor artificial limbs.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Technician, to work as an integral part of our specialist Prosthetics and Orthotics team based in Brighton.
The Technician supports the smooth running of the service by manufacturing, repairing and adjusting a wide range of prosthetic and orthotic products, specifically designed to meet the individual patient’s needs.
This is a fulfilling and challenging role for a proactive individual who thrives in a customer focussed manufacturing environment, producing and modifying specialist equipment precisely and effectively. We very much welcome applications from experienced prosthetic/orthotic technicians who are looking for a new opportunity. Due to the unique, specialised nature of the role, specific experience in prosthetic/ orthotic manufacturing would be beneficial; however training will be given to meet the successful candidate’s requirements.
Ideally, you’ll have previous experience of working in a similar manufacturing or engineering role. You must be a practically minded, methodical individual, who thrives in a ‘hands on’ role and has good problem solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
You’ll also need to be focused and flexible in your approach, and able to operate in a pressured environment. You will be a reliable team worker with excellent communication skills and be able to be trusted to complete tasks accurately and to deadline.
You will use these skills to interpret information supplied by clinicians to undertake manufacture of, and repairs and adjustments to patient’s prostheses and orthoses using a wide range of appropriate materials and tools. You’ll work closely with management, clinicians and other technicians to ensure the product meets the patients individual needs.
The nature of the role is varied so the successful candidate will need to maintain high standards when working to varying deadlines and when working under pressure. This is a permanent position and as standard the core working hours are 39 hours per week on Monday to Friday, though flexible working can be considered. In return, we offer a competitive salary package, excellent benefits and the opportunity to develop your skills as part of a highly specialist and experienced team.
