We now have an exciting new opportunity for a Procurement Specialist to take responsibility for defining, executing and controlling the short, medium- and long-term purchasing strategy; by utilizing Purchasing best practice techniques to achieve corporate cost, quality, delivery and development initiative targets.

Responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist:

Based from our factory in Sheffield, the Procurement expert will be passionate and enthusiastic about delivering a strategic procurement approach, ensuring relevant contracts are in place and the buyer has the capacity and appropriate high-quality vendor base to be able to execute the strategy.

  • All vendor development activity related to the commodity and enhancing the Purchasing Procedures to ensure successful vendor implementation.
  • Ensuring at all times vendor delivery, quality and cost performances adhere to Purchasing and Management expectations for the area of responsibility.
  • Working with Operations and Clinical teams to pro-actively manage process and cost reduction improvements
  • Supporting the operational buyer at the discretion of the Operations Manager / Supply Chain Manager to ensure buyer Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are achieved.
  • Development and implementation of cost reduction strategies to support ever increasing customer demands.
  • Analysis and distribution of spend data to support strategic decision making.
  • Stock management – work with the logistics team to set items up in the system and understand the most economic stocking policy for new products
  • Negotiation of site indirect/ direct contracts for material and 3rd party supply and negotiation of contracts linked to new product introduction across seating, orthotics and prosthetics as required.

Requirements of the Procurement Specialist:

They will be a confident communicator, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels. They will have strong negotiation and influencing skills and be professional in their approach with customers. Ability to prioritise and work on your own initiative is essential, as the role is varied and can be fast paced.

Relevant purchasing experience in a manufacturing or service environment is essential. The successful candidate will be highly computer literate and have experience of interpreting and analysing data sets so will also have strong numeracy skills. CIPS accreditation and/ or a degree level qualification in a relevant subject are desirable. Experience of working in a Continuous Improvement driven environment is also advantageous.
