Fixed term maternity cover contract, with the possibility of permanent employment thereafter. Initially 2 days (including Friday)/ 10 hours per week, commencing in September.
Or full time and permanent for candidates who are experienced or have an interest in wheelchair services in addition to scoliosis management.
Blatchford is a world leading rehabilitation provider with clinical expertise in prosthetics, orthotics, special seating and wheelchairs. We design and manufacture the multi award-winning Endolite range of lower limb prostheses and provide clinical services to the NHS, military and patients internationally. With 128 years of innovation and expertise behind us, we produce the world’s most advanced microprocessor artificial limbs.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced neuro or musculoskeletal Physiotherapist to join our multi-disciplinary clinical team in Sheffield and specialise in scoliosis management. The role is as part of a multi-disciplinary team who provide an exceptional clinical service to our paediatric and adult private patients and it really is an excellent opportunity for you to develop and enhance your career in a highly specialist field.
The Physiotherapist is an integral part of the service we provide to our private patients and focuses purely on using best practice techniques in the management of scoliosis. You will use your skills to provide your patients with the most appropriate and effective treatment, to meet their individual and specialist needs.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Undertaking initial face to face patient assessments and regularly reviewing patients progress
- Designing progressive rehabilitation programs in the management of scoliosis
- Designing, implementing and monitoring home rehabilitation programs
- Maintaining excellent medical notes which demonstrate the patients’ development
Previous experience of managing scoliosis is advantageous, although not essential. ‘Schroth- best practice’ training is a requirement, however if you don’t have this qualification yet, we will support and fund this as part of your initial training. Applicants must be degree qualified in Physiotherapy and be HCPC registered.
We are ideally looking for an experienced, proactive neuro or musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who would like to learn and develop within a specialist field. The successful candidate will be organised and proactive, with the ability to apply their theoretical, evidence-based knowledge in a practical and ‘exercise focussed’ way. You will be able to work independently but also able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and you will look to use your knowledge and experience to further improve and develop our growing service. You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working with both adult and paediatric patients, to help them to get busy living!
Initially the role is on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave, however the private practice is growing rapidly and therefore there may be the opportunity for permanent employment thereafter. We are ideally looking for 10 hours per week, spread over 2 days to include Fridays. However if you are experienced or interested in working as a physiotherapist as part of our wheelchair services with the NHS as well as in scoliosis management with our private patients, there may be a permanent opportunity to work full time, spread over both clinical services.
