Insoles Technician

Blatchford is a world leading rehabilitation provider with clinical expertise in prosthetics, orthotics, special seating and wheelchairs. We design and manufacture the multi award-winning Endolite range of lower limb prostheses and provide clinical services to the NHS, military and patients internationally. With 128 years of innovation and expertise behind us, we produce the world’s most advanced microprocessor artificial limbs.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Technician, to work as an integral part of our specialist Functional Foot Orthotics (FFO) Manufacturing team based in Sheffield.

This is an exciting and challenging role for a proactive individual who thrives in a manufacturing environment, where they have the ability to process and modify specialist equipment precisely and effectively. We very much welcome applications from experienced orthotic technicians who are looking for a new opportunity! But due to the unique and specialised nature of the role, specific experience in orthotic manufacturing is highly beneficial, although not essential, as training is provided to meet the successful individual’s needs.

As an FFO Technician, you’ll work with a highly experienced team of technicians to develop the skills to enable you to manufacture orthoses from a wide range of materials, to expert quality standards.

An insole is an external device that corrects biomechanical problems and each one is bespoke, made to measure for an individual patient. Your role as part of a team is making and repairing insoles for footwear, ensuring customer orders are processed effectively and efficiently to satisfy the specific requirements of our patients and clinicians.

To do this, you’ll be able to confidently use hand tools, have strong hand/eye coordination and good attention to detail. You’ll also need to be focused and flexible in your approach, and able to operate in a high pressure environment. You will be a reliable team worker with excellent communication skills and be able to be trusted to complete tasks accurately and to deadline.

You will use these skills to:

  • Interpret clinical orders, working to technical instructions, undertaking precise measurements, and identifying raw material requirements in the repair and construction of Foot Orthotics
  • Build and develop relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Work to targets in line with department standard times, volume and quality.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have experience in a specialist production environment and be used to working to targets and KPIs.

The nature of the role is varied and can be fast paced so the successful candidate will maintain high standards when working to varying deadlines and specifications. This is a permanent position and the core working hours are 37.75 hours per week on Monday to Friday, with a lunchtime finish on Fridays! In return, we offer a competitive salary package, excellent benefits and the opportunity to work as part of a highly specialist and experienced team.
