We now have an exciting new opportunity for a Health and Safety and Facilities Manager to take responsibility for health and safety, and facilities management for the factory in Sheffield, leading on health and safety, championing initiatives and ensuring compliance

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Health and Safety expert to get stuck into an operational management role, where they will embrace the challenge of being the sole responsible person for site health and safety.

The Health and Safety Manager will ultimately be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, visitors and contractors to the manufacturing site: complying with, and where reasonably practicable exceeding, the minimum standards for Health and Safety at work.

They will be an enthusiastic and confident communicator, who proactively drives behavioural change, whilst building and maintaining strong relationships at all levels, and maintains effective systems and processes to underpin a positive safety culture. They will provide leadership for health and safety activities and identify areas for improvement.

The Health and Safety and Facilities Manager will take responsibility for:

  • Implementing practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, to promote health and safety, and safe workplace practices
  • Organising and delivering relevant internal training for staff and liaising with external training providers, to deliver relevant courses
  • Conducting all risk assessments as required, ensuring regular review and the maintenance of records
  • Carrying out and reporting on investigations into all accidents and near-misses and implementing improvements/amendments identified as a result
  • Arranging and managing the Occupational Health surveillance checks and maintaining appropriate records
  • Managing accident and incident reports and assisting with the monthly trend reports
  • Managing general health and safety suppliers through Blatchford ordering systems
  • Ensuring maintenance of equipment, machinery and buildings
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory inspections and certification of plant and equipment, including fire prevention equipment and LEV
  • Managing and facilitating 3rd party suppliers in the provision of facilities services and any upgrades
  • Responding to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise
  • Raising orders to cover facilities related spend and adherence to site budget

Previous experience of working with and developing health and safety processes and procedures in a manufacturing environment is essential and applicants must have up to date knowledge of current health and safety legislation and best practice. Previous experience of line management is not essential; however experience of operating at management level or as part of a management/leadership team is highly beneficial. Relevant NEBOSH/IOSH/Health and Safety qualification is essential.

We are really looking for someone who has a pragmatic and engaging approach to health and safety, who has the skills to inspire and influence others at all levels. Being self-motivated, with the ability to manage, prioritise and organise your own work load, with minimal supervision is essential and you must be happy to ‘do-the-do’, as the role is standalone.

This is a full time, permanent role; working 37.75 hours per week on Monday to Friday, based in our orthotic and seating manufacturing facility in Sheffield. In return, we offer a competitive package, with excellent benefits.
