We now have an excellent opportunity for a Grinder/Hone Setter Operator, to join our busy CNC Manufacturing team based in our rapidly growing facility in Basingstoke.

The Grinder/Hone Setter Operator is responsible for carrying out all operations involved in the Grinding and Honing of parts made on the CNC section. The successful candidate will have a proven background in cylindrical grinding, hold a wheel certificate and be able to change / balance grinding wheels. They will also be required to make speed / feed adjustments to maintain the quality of components during production. Providing support/training and training reviews of other staff members will be required.

This is an exciting and challenging role for a pro-active individual, who has gained experience working in an industry manufacturing precision parts to very tight tolerances.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, with the ability to work on their own initiative to achieve deadlines and targets. They will have a flexible, innovative approach and a positive working style, with strong attention to detail.

They will utilise their skills and experience to take responsibility for:

  • Ensuring that all duties are completed in a safe manner
  • Producing components using manual cylindrical grinding and honing machines.
  • Providing training to others as required (grinding/honing setting, altering sizes, measurement techniques etc.)
  • Providing day-to-day support for the grinding and honing section and ensure that manufactured parts conform to drawing
  • Improving and maintaining housekeeping standards
  • Maintaining/improving/implementing Health and Safety best practice
  • Supporting the Engineering department with implementation of best practice techniques, training, new parts introduction.
  • Supporting the Quality Control function as required.

Therefore we are ideally looking for someone who has a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings, ideally working in a regulated industry, such as aerospace or automotive.  The successful candidate will most likely have completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, however we welcome applications from engineers without formal qualifications but who can demonstrate considerable experience in similar roles.

The role is full time and permanent, working Monday – Friday; 39 hours a week, with an early finish on a Friday. We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits and the opportunity to work in a unique manufacturing environment, driving success in an award winning organisation.
