We have an exciting opportunity for an Embedded Control Engineer, to join our industry leading innovation hub based in our rapidly growing R&D facility in Basingstoke.

Working as an Embedded Control Engineer you will take responsibility for the design of Embedded Control Systems for prosthetic and orthotic devices, with a particular focus on digital communication technology.

Prosthetics and Orthotics is a unique and bespoke industry, therefore this is a great opportunity for the successful engineer to join an award winning R&D department, working with the very best engineers in the industry.

Responsibilities of the Embedded Control Engineer:

  • Development of embedded control systems for prosthetic and orthotic devices from prototype through to production
  • Design and development of digital communication protocols and control systems
  • Specification of components and equipment required for product development
  • Produce design and compliance documentation at all development stages to meet medical device regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical support during patient trials and to sales, production and technical staff
  • Interact with sub-contractors on sub-contract design and manufacture, providing appropriate documentation and technical support

Requirements of the Embedded Control Engineer:

A strong background in embedded control system design, embedded real-time programming, interfacing sensors to microcontrollers and general digital and analogue electronic design is essential. The successful candidate will also have the skills to design and test embedded systems and communication systems. Experience and skills in PCB schematic capture, PCB layout, PCB assembly, and PIC microcontrollers is advantageous, as is knowledge of Biomechanics.

Candidates will be qualified at BSc/BEng (honours) degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or related subject and will have extensive post-graduate experience in a relevant role.
