Steps charity receives cheque for £10,079 from Blatchford
Posted on 15th April 2015
Earlier this year, Blatchford’s Charity Committee proudly presented a cheque for over £10,000 to its Charity of the Year, Steps, at the Blatchford central fabrication manufacturing base in Sheffield. Steps plan to use the funds to create a DVD providing valuable support and information for parents whose children are fitted with Pavlik harnesses.
Loredana Guetg-Wyatt, Executive Director of Steps, commented,
“Currently parents don’t receive sufficient information when their child is put in a Pavlik harness. Most parents are still in shock when they are told that their child will need to stay in the harness for six months and often don’t listen to the instructions provided by their clinician. It would be invaluable to provide a DVD with essential information to support families through the treatment process and we’re thrilled to receive this donation from Blatchford to make this happen.”
Laura Riley, Senior Orthotist and a founder member of Blatchford Charity Committee, said,
“Blatchford Charity of the Year has now completed its first full year and was intended to raise awareness and vital funds for mobility charities that support patients we treat every day. We’re delighted to have raised enough funds to allow Steps to create the Pavlik harness video that will have such a positive impact on patient’s treatment.”
The fundraising began over 1 year ago with multiple events taking place throughout the year including a team of 28 staff members climbing England’s highest peak Scafell Pike, a charity race night, silent auctions, a community rounders tournament, various raffles and cake bakes and even a charity curry lunch!
The Blatchford Charity Committee are proud to announce that Steps has been voted Charity of the Year for 2015.
