The KX06 linkage knee is precision engineered by a team of Swiss, English and American designers and marries the best features of geometric and hydraulic control. The hydraulics are proven for yield and cadence control and the robust linkage for its heel strike stability and advanced flexion characteristics, making the KX06 a perfect combination of assurance and adventure.
Anyone who uses a CaTech Rex hydraulic knee control knows it provides excellent knee control for all terrain from flat, to hills and stairs. Combined with the KX06 it goes a step ahead of the competition because it promotes smoother flexion initiation and enhances gait symmetry. |

KX06 Benefits
• Perfect yield and cadencecontrol
• Increased control on steep terrain
• Ideal for long residual limbs
• Enhanced knee flexion for very short amputations

|
Once the cylinder is in the flexed position an integral metal spring operates to ensure timely limb extension for the next heel strike. At late stance phase, just as the limb starts to flex, users often experience the resistance of this spring just prior to toe off. In addition a hyperextension moment is required to release the knee into swing phase, with the result that some users of mono-centric knees develop a gait deviation trying to get a satisfactory initiation of flexion.
The KX06 is different because the pivot positions acting on the cylinder provide a longer lever arm and therefore assist with compression of the spring. This means that gait is not only smoother than with a mono-centric knee but also requires less effort.

|
The polycentric pivot locations on the KX06 provide a much improved lever arm for initiation of flexion. The graph compares the KX06 with a mono-centric knee, note the enhanced KX06 lever from 0° to 40°, this is particularly beneficial for higher level amputations.

User Profile
The KX06 linkage system makes it ideal for users with long residual limbs and knee disarticulation, however that is by no means the entire story. This knee has become the preferred trans-femoral option for UK soldiers injured in current conflicts because it is so robust it allows them to return to their lives in full vigour, including participating in active service!

|
Selection Criteria
• Ideal for short trans-femoral amputations because of the enhanced knee flexion lever
• Cosmetically good for long residual or knee disarticulation amputations because of the folding linkage and posterior shin set on flexion
• Great for active users because of the excellent hydraulic knee control
• Contra-indicated for people of small stature because of the knee dimensions
Maximum User Weights
• 145Kg activity levels K1-K3
• 136Kg activity levels K1-K4
|
|
|
| The KX06 linkages fold to cosmetically minimise the length on long sockets and the shin section swings back to align naturally with the contra lateral limb. The maximum knee flexion is 160°. |
