The visit of the Rt. Hon Maria Miller to the Blatchford Headquarters on
Friday 23rd was a great opportunity to show the Minister for the Disabled
the latest innovations in prosthetic technology for lower limb amputees.
Miller commented on the range of high level processes she had
encountered on her tour of the R&D and Factory facilities and the
knowledge base of staff in the use of top class CAD, metal machining
centres and complex elastomer and fibre technologies.
Welcomed by Stephen Blatchford, CEO, and conducted on her tour by
Saeed Zahedi OBE, Technical Director and Robert Welsh, Operations
Director, Maria Miller also spoke to a number of amputees who were
testing prosthetic prototypes about the changes the new technologies,
like microprocessor controlled knees and feet, make in enhancing their
ability to take part in all the activities necessary to their lifestyles.
