The Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist will be clinically responsible for the delivery of Therapy Services within The Disablement Service Centre in Leicester.
Key responsibilities will include operational and supporting activities including:
• Contributing to service developments within the team
• Leading on a specific clinical area within wheelchair provision
• Supervising clinicians, support staff and students, providing professional guidance and advice
• Actively participating in the training of students and staff from other professions
• Participating in performance review and to carry this out with employees for whom responsibility is taken e.g. students and support staff
• Induction of new therapy employees
• Working with members of the inter-professional team and other therapists regarding the provision of assessment and treatment of patients
• Work with social services and other agencies as appropriate according to patient needs
• Good and contemporaneous clinical record keeping
• Management of designated clinics and home visits
• Assessment, planning and prescription of appropriate equipment for patients referred
• Planning and leading home assessments/treatments as individual needs dictate.
• Continued awareness of medical and therapeutic developments impacting on Therapy and healthcare delivery.
• Contribution towards the promotion and development of new techniques, ideas and regimes within the service area, that are evidence based
• Under the supervision of the Clinical Lead to contribute to the development of service standards, including clinical audit and service review.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
• Diploma/BSc O.T. and HPC Registration
• Experience and capability of working autonomously as a Band 5 or equivalent Therapist
• Prioritisation skills
• Decisive and organisational skills
• Ability to relate to and work with staff, patients and other members of a multi disciplinary team
• Ability to use initiatives and be adaptable
• Effective verbal and oral communication
• A positive approach with the ability to motivate others

• Practice Educators course
• Experience in a relevant clinical area
• Experience in supervising and teaching junior staff/assistants
• Experience in supervising students
• Knowledge and skills in wheelchairs, specialist seating and prosthetics
• Knowledge in clinical areas
